A 35-year-old man was assaulted outdoors in central Falköping tonight.

The man was taken to hospital and it was unclear during the night how seriously injured he was. According to the police, the injuries were caused by a sharp object.

We received the alarm at 22.05 and it concerns a lone man who was assaulted with various weapons by several individuals, says Morten Gunneng, duty officer at Police Region West.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and detained later, suspected of attempted murder. Another person was taken in for questioning and later released, according to the police.

We expect to make several arrests in the near future. Maybe not tonight, but soon. You can say that we are closing in on the perpetrators, says Morten Gunneng.

It is unclear whether the assaulted man was acquainted with the perpetrators, and due to his injuries, he has not yet been able to be questioned.
