In February next year, Tre Kronor will face off against the USA, Canada, and Finland in the first national team tournament since 2016 where NHL players are free to participate.
National team captain Sam Hallam is said to strengthen his staff with Alfredsson, who is normally an assistant coach for the NHL team Ottawa Senators.
According to Expressen, Daniel Alfredsson will be behind the bench during the tournament.
In addition to Hallam and Alfredsson, Stefan Klockare and Niclas Rahm are part of the leadership team from before.
The 4 Nations Face-Off will be played in Boston and Montreal. Sweden will open the tournament against Canada on February 12. The final will be played on February 20.
Daniel Alfredsson represented Tre Kronor in five Olympic Games and seven World Championships. At the Olympic Games in Turin 2006, he was part of the team that won Olympic gold. He played 1,246 NHL matches.
