After nearly three months, the cargo ship that caused a major bridge crash outside Baltimore is now allowed to leave the area.
The 300-metre-long vessel, named Dali, began being towed from Baltimore's harbour at 8.30 local time on Monday. The final destination is Norfolk in the state of Virginia, where the ship's remaining containers will be unloaded. In Norfolk, the vessel will also undergo repairs.
It was in March that Dali crashed into one of the Francis Scott Key Bridge's support pillars, causing parts of the giant bridge to collapse. Six construction workers died in the accident, and about a month ago, the ship was able to be towed to the nearby harbour – after being stuck at the collapsed bridge for nearly two months.
