The final between Colombia and Argentina in the South American Football Championship was marked by tears and panic before the match started.
Now AP reports that the Colombian Football Association's chairman Ramón Jesurún has been arrested by the police.
In total, the police made 27 arrests after the chaotic scenes that unfolded, where fans tried to enter the final arena Hard Rock Stadium in Miami without tickets, and the match was delayed by one hour and 20 minutes.
Several people were injured and arrested after the police were forced to intervene using tear gas.
The arrest took place early on Monday morning, local time. Jesurún is accused of three cases of aggravated assault on an official.
Argentina won the final over Colombia with 1–0.
