The newspaper's survey was conducted with the help of economists from the USA, the UK, and the euro area.
Trump's economic policy – where the USA is put first and protectionism is expected to have a broad impact – is not unexpectedly considered to have the most negative impact on the euro area.
72 percent of the economists surveyed see a negative impact, while 13 percent see a very negative impact on the euro area. When it comes to the USA, the assessment among a majority of economists is a slightly negative effect on growth, while just over 10 percent see a significant negative impact.
One in five of those surveyed, i.e. 20 percent, are however more optimistic and believe in a slightly positive impact on the USA's economy.
