The X platform is being shut down in Brazil following a decision made by the country's highest court. The reason is that the platform's owner, Elon Musk, has refused to name a legal representative in the country.
The measure comes after a dispute between Judge Alexandre de Moraes and Elon Musk about freedom of speech, far-right accounts, and misinformation.
The company has not had a representative in the country since earlier this month and de Moraes said the platform will remain blocked until it meets the requirements.
Brazil is an important market for X, where approximately one-fifth of the population, 40 million Brazilians, access the platform at least once a month, according to a market survey.
