Brazil's highest court announced on Tuesday that it is lifting the ban on X. The news comes after Elon Musk's social media platform was blocked on its largest Latin American market, with 22 million users, for over a month due to a dispute over disinformation.
"I approve the immediate resumption of the social platform's operations," said Judge Alexandre de Moraes in his decision.
X has paid millions of dollars in fines for violating court decisions related to the fight against disinformation.
The original decision to ban X was made by the controversial chairman of the Constitutional Court, Alexandre de Moraes. He has previously threatened to imprison X representatives if they do not comply with the country's laws. This follows several months of disputes over the content on the platform, where Moraes claims that extremism, hate speech, and anti-democratic content are being spread.
