Last season, the project was launched in the English women's football's second-highest level – renamed to Women's Super League 2 (WSL2) for the upcoming season – where four clubs sold alcohol during matches, which was allowed to be consumed in the stands.
The upcoming season, this will also be tested in the highest series, Women's Super League (WSL). Seven clubs will allow beer drinking in the stands, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City.
WSL's CEO Holly Murdoch says according to BBC that the sale is "a part of the strategy to offer a top-class experience".
The league also says that no safety incidents have been reported after last season's project, and that there was no change in the supporters' behavior.
The clubs themselves get to decide how many matches the alcohol project will be tested on.
