The police cannot rule out that a crime is behind a woman's disappearance outside Söderköping. An investigation into kidnapping has been initiated.
The woman, who is in her 45s, was last seen at her home on Sunday.
A large-scale search operation is looking for her. The police have, among other things, turned to the Defence Forces and Missing People to get help in the search effort.
The police are now working on two tracks. A report of a missing person has been filed and an investigation into kidnapping has been initiated.
There are circumstances in this case that may seem a bit strange and that we need to get answers to. When we open an investigation with this crime classification, we get more tools to work with, says the police's press spokesperson Mats Pettersson.
He emphasizes that there is no suspect in the investigation.
The search operation will continue on Wednesday evening and night towards Thursday.
Possibly with drones equipped with thermal cameras, says Mats Pettersson.
I have also received information that the Home Guard will be reinforced during the morning.
