A woman who was registered at the wrong address for 30 years has been fined 14,000 kronor in daily fines.

The woman owned three houses and an apartment, writes Ystads Allehanda. After many years in the apartment, she moved to a house in Ystad municipality, without changing her address in the population register. When the woman was prosecuted in the district court, it led to an acquittal. The court found that it was not possible to prove that the woman intentionally broke the law.

The acquittal was appealed to the court of appeal, which now convicts the woman of population registration offense. According to the court of appeal, the woman was aware that she was obliged to change her address. Among other things, she knew that she could not apply for mileage allowance from the address where she was not registered, according to the court of appeal.
