And the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia is firing rockets at Israel from Lebanon, according to the Israeli military (IDF).
At least five hits were initially reported against targets in southern Beirut, according to reports in Lebanese media and AFP's staff heard several powerful explosions.
Early Sunday morning, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports, citing Lebanese media sources, that at least thirty attacks were carried out during the night. The night is described as the most violent so far.
IDF urged residents in targeted areas to evacuate twice during the night ahead of attacks on marked buildings.
While ground battles are ongoing between the Hezbollah militia and Israel in the border areas against Israel, Hezbollah is persistently firing rockets at Israel. And IDF says that three drones have been stopped en route to targets in Israel.
Israel's military has also stepped up attacks on targets in Gaza. Unconfirmed reports from Palestinian media, such as the Wafa news agency, speak of 18 dead Palestinians in the attacks there.
IDF claims that the airstrikes were precise attacks on, among other things, what is said to be terrorists in a command center in a former school in central Gaza, in Deir al-Balah. Another target in the same area was, according to IDF, a Hamas center in a former mosque. IDF says it has done what it can to minimize the risk of harming civilians.
