The Scottish band Waterboys are making a tribute album to the American actor Dennis Hopper – with, among others, Bruce Springsteen and Fiona Apple as guest artists, writes Billboard.
Hopper is, among other things, known from the films "Apocalypse Now" and "Easy Rider". Waterboys have also previously released the song "Good Luck, Seeker", which is named after the actor, and they believe that his life path reflected our time.
He was part of the youth culture's big shock in "Rebel Without a Cause" with James Dean, and the beginning of pop art with the young Andy Warhol. He was part of the counterculture: with hippie civil rights and the psychedelic 1960s, says Mike Scott from the band.
The album "Life, Death and Dennis Hopper" is set to be released in April, and according to Waterboys, it's not just about Hopper, but about "the whole strange adventure of being human on planet Earth".
