Volvo Cars: Not Worried About New US Rules

Before Joe Biden stepped down as the President of the USA, his administration presented new rules regarding technology from, among others, China.

Connected vehicles with technology developed or manufactured in China are considered a security threat and shall therefore be prohibited.

The major bank SEB points out that this may hit hard, for example, Volvo Cars, whose main owner is the Chinese Geely.

However, the Swedish car manufacturer sees no reason to worry:

We need to look at the details and see how it affects our products and our design, and so on, says CEO Jim Rowan to Sveriges Radio Ekot.

The USA is the second-largest market for Volvo Cars and accounted for 16 percent of the total sales last year. The car manufacturer is currently going through the rules and will make changes if necessary.

We will need to handle it in the same way as other car manufacturers have to handle it, says Rowan.
