German Volkswagen announces that it will sell its operations in the Chinese province of Xinjiang after allegations of forced labor within the company's operations in the region. The company has been pressured, among other things, from the American side for its presence in Xinjiang, where no car manufacturing takes place, but rather final inspection of vehicles intended for sale.
In addition to the facility itself, Volkswagen has also agreed to sell a car testing facility to a state-owned Chinese actor. From the Chinese side, it has been maintained that no form of forced labor or human rights violations occur in connection with the operations.
