"Unknown Heir" is revived by SVT. Kattis Ahlström returns as host, and with her is Mark Levengood.
It was incredibly fun and extremely challenging, he says.
In the program, they travel around the world to find people who have inherited fortunes they didn't know about.
Kattis Ahlström has led the four previous seasons of the program, which was put on ice in 2021. For Mark Levengood, it's the first time, and for him, it was a no-brainer to say yes.
I thought I wanted something new in my life, and 40 minutes later they called and asked. I wanted to work with Kattis, and I think the program is very good, so I was thrilled to get the question.
"Touching a sore spot"
Both emphasize that it was a challenging task, especially during the meetings with the unknown heirs.
Sometimes you don't just bring news about the inheritance, but also about a death. You meet people who have a lot of question marks in their lives and touch their wounds, says Levengood.
Frequently, family secrets come to the surface, says Ahlström.
On one occasion, someone had written over an inheritance to one sibling and not the other. It's hard to deliver that message, but it was surprising how it was received, she says, but doesn't want to reveal more.
"Shared humor and tone"
Levengood tells about another challenge that arose during filming.
Kattis warned me beforehand that you always freeze on recordings. I've sat and frozen on so many bridges and in so many alleys, he says and laughs.
It's the first time the hosts are working together, but both agree that it's something they want to do again.
The silly expression "if it's easy, it's right" applied. We found a shared humor and tone together, says Ahlström.
The fifth season of "Unknown Heir" premieres on August 29 on SVT and SVT Play.
