The UN spokesperson Stephanie Tremblay states that Israel has not allowed any other UN emergency aid except medical supplies to reach northern Gaza since the offensive against the area began about a month ago.
She further says that the Israeli offensive is leading to around 75,000-95,000 Palestinians in the north not having access to emergency aid that is crucial for their survival, and that Israeli bombings and ground operations are hindering aid workers from reaching people in need.
Israel, which recently opened the Erez border crossing, has informed the US that the country "hopes to open another new crossing at Kissufim" within the coming days, says American State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
We have continued to pressure them and we have seen that they, even in the last few days after the election, have taken further measures, says Miller.
The announcement comes after the US government has given Israel until November 13 to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza or risk the US withholding certain military support.
