Ullakarin Nyberg's life was shaken to the core when she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. In P1's new series "Cancer Journey", the psychiatrist and cancer doctor meets women who have had the same experiences.

"The journey we take when we are struck by a serious illness looks so different depending on where we are in life and what baggage we carry", says Ullakarin Nyberg in a press release.

Every day, around 25 women in Sweden receive a breast cancer diagnosis. Ullakarin Nyberg has in her professional life helped thousands of cancer-stricken individuals through life's toughest moments – but still became equally lost and scared when she herself was affected.

In the series, which starts on October 7, she meets Sandra who got cancer at a young age, Anna who cared for her dying son when she received the cancer diagnosis, Therese who believed the disease was God's punishment, and Lillian who, at 74 years old, "pulled a blanket over herself and became like a little child".
