”Dept Q” is based on Jussi Adler-Olsen's novels – a series of books that have previously been filmed in Denmark with Fares Fares in the role that Alexej Manvelov now plays.
The plot of the Netflix series has been moved from Copenhagen to Edinburgh where the filming also takes place. Actor Matthew Goode also returns in the lead role as detective superintendent Carl Morck.
The first season premiered in May this year.
