The Swedish-Iranian director Ali Abbasi's film "The Apprentice" premiered in US cinemas on Friday. The acclaimed film depicts Trump's early career and in one sequence, Trump rapes his first wife Ivana.
In a post on X on Monday morning, Trump lashes out at the film in general and screenwriter Gabriel Sherman in particular.
"Ivana was a kind and wonderful person, and I had a fantastic relationship with her until she died. The talentless fraud of a writer knew that, but he ignored it", he writes.
Trump also writes that the film is a disgusting, politically motivated character assassination and that he hopes it flops.
It is already known that Trump plans to sue Ali Abbasi for defamation.
"The Apprentice" also had its Swedish cinema premiere on Friday.
Corrected: An earlier version stated the wrong date for the Swedish premiere. Also correcting the weekday in the second paragraph.
