Trains to and from Stockholm Central Station are rolling again, after being out of service during the morning due to a power fault. However, delays are to be expected.
It feels like there's always something wrong, says one of the morning's commuters.
The fault occurred, according to the Transport Administration, just before 4 am on Wednesday morning, due to an electrical cabinet fire on the track area. This triggered a safety system that cut off the power. However, the trains started rolling again shortly after 8 am.
We can't use all the tracks, but most of them. However, there will still be some delays and cancelled departures for a couple of hours ahead, as we need to free up space, says Felicia Danielsson of the Transport Administration's press service.
Currently, tracks 8 and 10-12 are out of service.
As soon as we take away a few tracks, it becomes noticeable, as the capacity is maxed out at Stockholm Central, says Felicia Danielsson.
On the way to Midsummer
For commuters, it means continued waiting. Emilie Gyhlenius and her friends are on their way to Skåne to celebrate Midsummer and have already waited a couple of hours. Amalia Andersson was also supposed to travel to a Midsummer celebration in Mora with her two children, but is now unsure if they'll make it.
It's exhausting, it feels like there's always something wrong when I travel with the kids, says she.
Another group of friends were supposed to travel to Holland via Lund, Copenhagen, and Hamburg, and were supposed to arrive at 8:30 pm tonight. When they tried to rebook their tickets via customer service, there were 150 people in the queue, and they couldn't rebook in the app either.
Hope we make it today, says Emme Perreve anxiously.
Now that the power is back on, everyone will get going, but it's worst for those travelling to other countries, according to customer service representative Aldo Perez.
We've tried to help them with connections.
Commuter trains are being used
The Transport Administration is trying to use commuter trains to solve the situation.
Every other Mälartåg from Hallsberg and Norrköping will turn around in Flemingsberg, and if you're going to Stockholm, you can change to a commuter train there, says Felicia Danielsson.
Even Arlanda Express had to cancel all departures, but from 9 am, the trains started running again.
