The locomotive engineer, a man in his 60s, was killed in Thursday's train accident in Norway.
"It was with great sorrow that we received the message that our good colleague had died in the very tragic accident at Bjerka", says Managing Director Rikke Lind at SJ in a press release on Friday.
It was around 2 pm on Thursday that a passenger train was hit by a rockslide and derailed on the Nordland Railway between Bjerka and Mo i Rana. One person was killed and several were injured.
The locomotive and five carriages derailed and lay on their side on a steep slope, and it took the rescue services several hours to get an overview of the situation, which was described as "unmanageable".
There were 46 people on board the train.
