The government in Montenegro has pledged to take tough action against organised crime following the deaths of two people and the injury of three others in an explosion.
The explosion occurred on Thursday near a sports hall in the town of Cetinje in southern Montenegro. According to a local TV station that captured the incident on film, the hall's windows were shattered and a nearby tree was uprooted.
This day must never happen again, said Montenegro's police chief Aleksandar Radovic to journalists.
This is a red line. Montenegro cannot afford a single innocent victim, he continued, adding that innocent people were injured in the explosion.
Montenegrin media report that the victims belonged to a criminal group operating along the Adriatic coast and that several violent incidents have occurred in the country in recent years.
The country's national security council says it has taken measures for an "urgent and decisive response to strengthen the fight against organised crime".
