Timberlake admits guilt – avoids drunk driving charges

Justin Timberlake has reached an agreement in the lawsuit where he is accused of drunk driving. He admits to a lesser traffic offense and thus avoids the accusation of driving under the influence and a continued trial.

During the highly publicized trial in the Sag Harbor court in the state of New York, Timberlake pleads guilty to "driving with impaired ability", a traffic offense with a significantly lower penalty scale.

He is now sentenced to a fine of 750 dollars (approximately 8,000 kronor) and 25 hours of community service. His driver's license is also revoked for 90 days.

Timberlake was arrested shortly after midnight on June 18 in Sag Harbor, located in the luxurious resort area of The Hamptons, suspected of drunk driving. He allegedly drove past a stop sign, swerved between lanes, and smelled of alcohol when asked to step out of his BMW.

According to the police report, the 43-year-old artist's eyes were "bloodshot and glossy" and his speech was slow. He was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on all sobriety tests.

Timberlake told the police that he had consumed a martini, but refused to take a breathalyzer test.

The artist denies any wrongdoing, and his lawyer claims that Timberlake was not intoxicated at the time.
