A new mother who threw her newborn baby from a hotel window in Paris has received psychiatric care, according to French prosecutors.
The woman, an 18-year-old student from the USA, had given birth to the child in a hotel room on Monday, and then thrown it out onto the street from the window. The baby received care but did not survive its injuries.
A murder investigation was initiated, but it was determined that the woman was not fit to stand trial and she has instead been placed in a psychiatric ward.
