Norway has received eight more patients and their relatives from the Gaza Strip, the government in Oslo reports.

The patients arrived in Norway on Thursday night after being evacuated from war-torn Gaza. In total, Norway has now received 100 patients and their relatives.

"I am very glad that we have been able to receive more people in need of care from Gaza than previously expected. The suffering in Gaza is enormous", says Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide in a press release.

It was in June 2024 that the government decided to receive almost 20 patients from Gaza. But fewer relatives than planned accompanied them in 2024, so in May this year the government decided to receive more patients.

Norway has received 28 patients and 72 relatives, who are included in the country's quota refugees. Several other European countries have also received Palestinian patients from the war.
