During the rest of the week, all doors to the upper secondary schools, except one, will be kept locked.
The entrance will be open from 7:30 am and security guards will be present to create a calm and safe school environment, according to the press release.
The municipality was informed by the police on Tuesday evening about a serious threat, where it was mentioned that some kind of shooting would take place at the school, said Anders Elingfors, head of the education administration in Växjö earlier on Wednesday.
It's a difficult-to-assess threat, we think. We must think about the students' and staff's safety and security, he said.
The police describe the threat as vague and emphasize that the decision to cancel classes was made by the school.
It's information we received yesterday, second-hand, someone who heard that it was talked about that something would happen at the school, says Thomas Johansson, press spokesperson for the Blekinge and north-east Skåne police district.
Police are present at the school on Wednesday as a security measure. No one has been arrested.
The information we have is quite vague, says Thomas Johansson.
As a result of the threat, all municipal upper secondary schools were locked. Anders Elingfors has previously said that the mass shooting in Örebro has affected the municipality's actions.
In our risk assessment, when we think about the risks, we look at what has happened in the world around us – are there other risks? Is there a risk of copycats? Is there another threat picture? It's part of the assessment, of course, he says.
According to Växjö municipality, the police have closed their case regarding the threat.
