We are pleased to introduce the first iPhone designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence and its groundbreaking capacity, says Apple's CEO Tim Cook at an event at the company's headquarters in Silicon Valley.

Among the new features are a more powerful version of the voice-controlled digital assistant Siri and tools for creating custom emojis.

Many of the AI tools have already been presented earlier and will be rolled out gradually through various updates.

Customizable button

As expected, the iPhone model also gets a new customizable button that the user can set up according to their needs.

The iPhone 16 also comes with a new generation of processors, called A18, which will make the model more efficient. The phone comes in two base models and two more expensive versions.

The iPhone 16 will be released in the USA on September 20. When it will be available in Sweden is not known.

In addition to the new iPhone, Apple is also launching a new watch model, Apple Watch 10, which has the thinnest design and largest display to date. According to the company, it has a health function that can warn users of sleep apnea.

Airpods 4, a new model of the wireless headphones, is also being released and will have improved sound quality, among other things.

High expectations

The expectations for the iPhone 16 have been high since it is the first model specifically tailored for artificial intelligence (AI).

In an attempt to differentiate itself from competitors in the AI market, the technology for iPhone 16 is being marketed with the slogan Apple Intelligence, but it resembles the AI already available on other companies' mobile phones.

After Monday's launch, Apple's stock fell by about 1.4 percent.
