Starlet Shadi G is one of three promising artists awarded the Denniz Pop prize at a ceremony at the Musikaliska kvarteret in Stockholm. "With a unique sound and undeniable talent, the sky's the limit for this artist," writes the jury in their motivation.
In total, five prizes are awarded, including three talent prizes and two honorary prizes.
Wilhelm Börjesson is awarded the talent prize for best songwriter or producer talent. This is just the beginning of what he can achieve, according to the jury.
The international talent prize goes to artist and songwriter Ethan Hodges from the United Kingdom.
Shadi G, whose real name is Shadi Golchin Niksirat, receives the prize in the rookie artist/band category.
The winner in each category receives $10,000, equivalent to approximately 100,000 kronor.
This year's two honorary prizes go to music producer Bengt Palmers and Abbas' manager Görel Hanser.
The jury for the prize includes, among others, Max Martin, Tove Lo, and Rami Yacoub.
This year's presentation of the Denniz Pop prizes is the eleventh in order. Star producer Denniz Pop passed away in 1998.
