In Swedish, they demand a ceasefire, but the messages become more radical when the slogans are shouted in Arabic. Then, they call for terror support and continued war, writes Sydsvenskan, which has reviewed Palestine demonstrations since the turn of the year.
The focus has been on the demonstrations arranged in Malmö every Sunday since Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7.
When the slogans are shouted in Arabic, the tone becomes sharper in many cases. Among other things, the military branch of the terrorist-listed organization Hamas and its various representatives are praised.
In Swedish, the most common slogans are "Everyone sees and everyone hears, how the children in Gaza die", "The people in Gaza have the right to life" and "We want a ceasefire".
The Sunday demonstrations are organized by a network of fifteen Palestinian associations. The organizers distance themselves from slogans that support terrorist organizations, but at the same time emphasize that it is difficult to stop someone who shows up with their own megaphone.
