During the summer, until August 15, young people from, among others, HVB and Sis homes, have deviated and been arrested suspected of preparation for crime.
HVB homes are not closed, and it is far from all who deviate who commit crimes. But during the spring and summer, there have been about ten young people every week who have deviated from HVB homes, which the police become aware of - just because it may be about crime.
Those we keep track of are about ten a week, and it has been that way for a longer period, says Diana Qudhaib, press secretary at the National Media Center.
We want to have a zero figure, but that's not how it looks, she says.
Children recruit children
The police have set up a national alarm chain for different types of accommodation that have children and young people placed. But they are also recruited in their boys' and girls' rooms at home.
The police say that they have seen new methods in criminals' recruitment during the year. Now, children and young people also recruit other peers to commit violent crimes. The task then becomes to spread advertisements in different types of chats. The recruiters in the "upper layer" do this to protect themselves.
The violent assignments are found in different chats on encrypted messaging services such as Telegram and Signal. Often, the dangers of an assignment are played down.
We do not think that they understand the dangers. It's about handling life-threatening explosives and rarely are there any escape plans for the children, says Qudhaib.
Threats
Recruiters higher up in the hierarchy not only chat with the children but also call them to pressure them into taking on assignments. If they get signals that the child has regretted it, it is common with extortion and threats. The threats can be to harm relatives or that the promised money will not be paid.
The police often receive calls from parents who have found murder plans or other disturbing information in their children's phones. Therefore, parents are urged to continue alerting the police and to do so as early as possible.
