”We often receive calls from parents who have found murder plans or other disturbing information in their children's phones. With that information, we can prevent crimes and save lives. We want to send a message to parents to continue alerting the police and to do so as early as possible”, says August Knutsson, operational coordinator at the police's national operations center in a press release.
During 2025, the police have seen new approaches in criminals' recruitment. Now, criminals are also recruiting children and young people to commit violent crimes.
”The recruiters in the upper layer do this to protect themselves", says August Knutsson.
Violent assignments are found in various chats on encrypted messaging services such as Telegram and Signal. Recruiters higher up in the hierarchy not only chat with the children but also call them to pressure them into taking on assignments, according to the police.
