The UN's peacekeeping mission Unifil in Lebanon states that Israeli military has caused damage to a posting in southern Lebanon. According to a Unifil statement, the action was "conscious and direct" against the UN forces.
The incident occurred on Thursday and was "the seventh of similar actions" carried out by Israel's military. The attack was directed against Unifil's posting in Ras Naqura, where protective concrete barriers and fences were destroyed.
"We also note with concern that two of the blue barrels that mark the UN border for withdrawal between Lebanon and Israel have been destroyed and moved," writes Unifil.
In the sharp statement, the peacekeeping force states that it does not fear being in the line of fire in its mission – but that Unifil opposes direct attacks against the UN's postings.
