The ski jumper writes on social media that he has been thinking for a long time about whether he would ever find the strength to tell.
New Year's Day, he took the step. In a post on Instagram – with a photo collage of Andrzej Stekala and his boyfriend since 2016 – the 29-year-old writes that he no longer "wants to flee".
"I want you to get to know the real me. I am homosexual", he writes.
The pain of having lost his boyfriend since 2016 "cannot be described".
"We loved each other in secret, hid our love from the world to protect what was most important to us", writes Stekala.
Andrzej Stekala was part of the Polish national team that took World Championship bronze in the team event in 2020 and 2021.
