The author, poet, and artist Stig Johansson has passed away after a short illness in the presence of his family, announces his gallerist and publisher in a press release.
Johansson is perhaps best known for the poem "The Loss" which contains the verse "All these days that came and went, I didn't know they were life".
He went to sea at a young age and when he came ashore, he educated himself to become a social worker. Stig Johansson debuted as an artist in 1982 and has, among other things, exhibited at Liljevalchs Spring Salon and Galleri Final in Malmö.
In southern Sweden, he was also known for his "Old Men" and aphorisms that were published in Sydsvenskan from 1985 until a few years ago.
He has, among other things, published poetry and aphorism collections such as "The Capsized Heaven" (1984), "Verbal Obstacles: words in the way" (1989), "Human to Judge: other verbal obstacles" (1993) and "Comb Zero" (2012).
Stig Johansson was 87 years old.
