The office supply chain Office Depot is closing its 39 physical stores and laying off a large proportion of its employees. The reason is the company's large debts, reports Branschkoll.
Despite previous measures, Office Depot has an accumulated net loss of more than 38 million kronor during the first nine months of the year. Liquidity shortages are becoming acute, and according to reconstruction documents, the chain plans to close its stores and try to increase online sales.
Office Depot will also close its sales offices in Gothenburg, Malmö, and Karlstad, and lay off a large part of the organization's staff.
The company offers products in office furnishings and office materials, as well as various types of office-related services, and had a turnover of approximately 987 million kronor in 2023.
