The Women's Ice Hockey World Championship should be reformed. This is according to the Women's National Team Captain Ulf Lundberg in an interview with Radiosporten.
He wants to abolish the current format with one seeded group and one unseeded group in the group stage.
It's time, considering how the matches look now, to have two equal groups, and it will benefit development, says Lundberg.
Tougher competition also speaks in favor of Sweden breaking its long medal drought, according to the national team captain. Sweden has not taken a championship medal in 17 years, last in 2007 when it was a World Championship bronze.
