The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is bringing home the extra personnel who were on site to help Swedes in Lebanon.

The reason: low interest.

We can see that the demand for consular support is very low and has decreased further in recent days. We had reinforced the embassy with four people, but they have now gone home, says Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) in connection with an EU meeting in Luxembourg.

Those few who have made contact have mostly been seeking information rather than concrete help. Malmer Stenergard also notes that there are currently plenty of flight tickets available to leave the country.

There is quite good availability. We will, of course, continue to urge Swedish citizens who want to leave Lebanon to book the available seats. If one does not have the financial means, one can still turn to the embassy to explore the possibilities of a loan, says the Foreign Minister.
