Chad's former Prime Minister Succès Masra has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for hate propaganda, xenophobia and for having initiated violent clashes.
The violence in southwestern Chad took place on May 14 this year. 42 people were killed, the majority of them women and children, in Mandakao in southwestern Chad. Masra – who was Prime Minister for five months last year – was arrested two days later.
In addition to Masra, nearly 70 other men are accused of participating in the killing.
The country's prosecutor demanded 25 years in prison for Masra. His lawyers, on the other hand, claimed that no concrete evidence against him had been presented in court.
