The two-year-old Petunia is a crossbreed of French bulldog and its owner Shannon Nyman describes her as "a lap dog of world class", writes the local newspaper The Press Democrat.
The competition returns annually and attracts masses of dog owners to nominate their four-legged friends.
Despite the competition's name, it does not aim to mock the dogs, but rather to celebrate those who have an "unconventional appearance". A large part of the dogs that participate in the competition have been adopted from animal shelters and have been tried hard through life.
The prize amount is 5,000 dollars, equivalent to approximately 47,000 kronor.
