”If this plan is implemented, the security in South Caucasus will be jeopardized”, says Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei, according to the news agency Tasnim.

He adds that the planned ”Trump's road for international peace and prosperity” is an impossible idea and will not be implemented.

The new corridor, named after the US president, is an important part of the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia that was signed on Friday together with Donald Trump at the White House.

Russia, however, believes that the agreement ”deserves a positive assessment”.

We hope that this step will contribute to promoting the peace agenda, says the Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zacharova.

Corrected: Reformulated the designation of the agreement.
