Security at Swedish amusement parks should be strengthened. The government thinks so and is setting up an inquiry with the task of considering measures for enhanced supervision.

The background is the accidents that have occurred at Swedish amusement parks. Last year, a woman died and several were seriously injured after a roller coaster at Gröna Lund in Stockholm malfunctioned.

"The recent accidents at Swedish amusement parks are a tragedy. It is essential that the supervision of amusement parks is strengthened. The government is now taking necessary steps forward to increase safety for all visitors," says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer in a press release.
