We see with great concern the occurrence of early peaking and selection, says Minister for Sports Jakob Forssmed (KD) to Dagens Nyheter.

The new requirement is included in the government's appropriation directive for 2025. Sports receive an allocation of over two billion kronor per year, which is distributed to the associations via the Swedish Sports Confederation, writes DN.

I think this is very important. The state is a very large contributor to children's and youth sports, says Jakob Forssmed and continues:

Then we cannot just passively watch when they use peaking and selection that eliminates children and young people, who do not take into account that children develop at different rates, and which are very rarely driven by the children themselves.
