The Expert: Walz is a Safe Bet

He is a seemingly normal man with a solid background and progressive ideas – additionally without skeletons in the closet. Tim Walz is in line with public opinion, says the US expert and journalist Karin Henriksson.

Walz was initially a relatively unknown candidate, but he quickly rose to the top, according to Karin Henriksson:

He rose in the rankings after having labeled Trump and Vance as "weird" - crackpots. He's not a bold choice, but a safe choice, she says.

Kamala Harris simply chose someone who suits her:

Walz has pushed through things that Kamala Harris is in favor of, such as tax relief for families with children and background checks for gun purchases.

He also appears to be competent and experienced, and is better equipped to become vice president, and president, than Trump's vice presidential candidate JD Vance.

- Tim Walz is the governor of Minnesota. He knows how to govern a state, which is something Vance lacks experience of, says Karin Henriksson.

She also believes that many ordinary people can identify with Walz.

He's a hunter, for example, but is in favor of gun control. His opinions are in line with what people think.

However, it's this type of progressive ideas that Trump and the Republicans will target, she believes.

But Tim Walz has already shown that he has talent as a fighter by calling Trump "weird."

The big challenge will be to become well-known to the masses:

He must succeed in becoming known in a short time, which is not entirely impossible.

So far, his background appears to be spotless and without skeletons in the closet.

But it can come. It's only been a few hours since he was appointed, says Karin Henriksson.
