The EU will present a new package of sanctions against Russia in September.
As long as the killing in Ukraine continues, Europe will maintain diplomatic, and above all economic, pressure on Russia, said the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference on Sunday.
This will be the 19th package of sanctions.
Von der Leyen emphasized that the sanctions introduced have proven to be effective and that frozen Russian assets have already been redirected to support Ukraine.
We need to continue to reduce Russia's ability, she said and added that the EU will continue to target Russia's war economy to get President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.
