This year's Birgit Cullberg scholarship of 200,000 kronor is awarded to the dancer and choreographer Sindri Runudde, who has a background in both dance and circus.
In the motivation, the Arts Committee writes: "Their artistic work has a queer-feminist perspective and with their inevitably strong commitment to functional issues, Sindri inspires and drives the development of dance art in unexplored directions."
"I am incredibly happy and surprised and want to express a big thank you for this encouragement to continue with my and everyone's dance," says Sindri Runudde in a press release.
Runudde has set up, among other things, "Sälskap" and "Dancing in your shoes", and shown works at, for example, Dansens Hus, Norrlandsoperan, Inkonst, Skånes Dansteater and MDT (Moderna Dansteatern).
