The United Kingdom's newly appointed Foreign Minister David Lammy is on his first European tour. On Sunday, he traveled to Sweden.
In Stockholm, the new Foreign Minister met his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billström (M). At the meeting, the ministers discussed, among other things, defense cooperation and support to Ukraine.
"After my conversation with Foreign Minister Lammy, I am convinced that the conditions for continuing to deepen and develop cooperation with the United Kingdom are very good", says Tobias Billström in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
David Lammy, who previously held ministerial posts in both Tony Blair's and Gordon Brown's governments, replaced Conservative David Cameron as Foreign Minister after Labour's landslide victory in the British parliamentary election on Friday.
Lammy has in recent days also visited Germany and Poland, in addition to Sweden.
It's time to "restore relations with our European friends and allies", Lammy announces on X.
The United Kingdom's withdrawal from the EU was completed in 2020.
