Denmark's government has made a decision to send emergency aid to Gaza by air, reports Danish media.

We have decided to participate in an "airdrop" over Gaza, says the country's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen (The Moderate Party) according to Danish Radio.

Denmark will send two shipments with emergency supplies with a Hercules plane before August 22, while the "window" for emergency aid is still open.

According to Rasmussen, Israel has approved the delivery. He states that the solution is not optimal, and that he would have preferred Israel to open up for all emergency aid deliveries.

It is in a way a drop in the ocean. But it is better to throw a drop in the ocean than that it dries out completely, he says to the news agency Ritzau.
