Spain has evacuated 44 injured or ill children from the Gaza Strip as well as around a hundred of their relatives in recent months, according to the Spanish government.
Four different evacuations have been carried out in cooperation with international organizations and other countries.
The children and their families have been placed in different parts of Spain to receive care. Those who have been brought to the country will be able to apply for asylum.
Migration Minister Elma Saiz says that the evacuations show that "solidarity and international cooperation save lives".
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's government is one of the sharpest critics within the EU of Israel's warfare in the Gaza Strip.
