This after an examination, made by Sweden's Television. It shows that only 4 out of 26 people have made a profit since they got their books published by hybrid publishers like Lava.

We see that these problems are increasing and increasing. So we actually see no other way to go right now than to warn people from entering into agreements with Lava, says the Chairman of the Authors' Association Anja Gatu to SVT.

Lava is a so-called hybrid publisher, which means that authors themselves have to pay for the whole or parts of their publication. According to SVT, authors have had to pay up to 175,000 kronor to get their books published. The warning is now the first one issued by the Authors' Association since 2022.

This is the last resort, and this type of warning is always preceded by a dialogue. But if we notice that the dialogue does not yield anything, we issue a warning, says Anja Gatu.

Corrected: In an earlier version, an incorrect statement about the number of people who have profited from getting their books published by Lava occurred.
