A man who threw a pipe bomb at Japan's former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in 2023 is sentenced to ten years in prison.
The 25-year-old man is convicted of attempted murder for the attack during a campaign meeting in the Japanese port city of Wakayama south of Osaka in April 2023. He is also convicted of four other crimes, including violation of the weapons law.
According to the court, the perpetrator was aware of the risk that the attack could be fatal, reports Japanese media.
Kishida escaped unharmed in the attack.
