The 16-year-old boy was attacked with a knife and the same night, another 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged. He and a 15-year-old are now convicted of the murder in Örkelljunga in January.
It was just after midnight between the 13th and 14th of January that the police were alerted to Örkelljunga and the 16-year-old was found seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
The teenagers are sentenced to closed youth care. According to Helsingborg District Court, only the older boy held the knife, but still believes that both should be convicted of the murder.
"It has been proven that the 15-year-old and 16-year-old jointly attacked the victim shortly after he got off the bus in Örkelljunga. It has also been proven that the crime was preceded by some planning, including arming themselves with knives and a soft airgun, and that both used violence against the victim," says Judge Andreas Gustafsson in a press release.
The evidence against the teenagers has consisted mainly of witness statements, and there has been a film of the incident from one of the witnesses' mobile phones. The now-convicted boys know each other well, and one of them has, according to the prosecutor, been closely acquainted with the victim.
